A sea green slip of paper waited patiently on my keypad, folded over and propped up in a little tent.
11:31 am 12/11/17
You're out on the balcony on the mattresses, writing
in a small notebook. The sun is on you as I look
through the kitchen window. I took a peek at you
and told myself to stop and not look back.
The moment was enough.
It was perfect and so were you.
I've never seen you so beautiful.
It was one in an endless sprinkling of love notes that rained from the books I was reading. Smiled up at me from the kitchen counter first thing in the morning. Leaned against my laptop screen, knowing I needed them before sitting down to write.
They described me in ways much kinder than I ever imagined I actually was. Told me truths I rarely told myself. Steadily nurtured me through the emotional rollercoaster of my life. The love notes knew my brilliance - unwavering - when I so often doubted it.
I didn't wish they kept coming, I only hoped I could fully accept them when they did.
