I only listened when she spoke to me through pain. Shooting sprinkles of sharp energy through my leg so fierce I thought my veins were bursting. Joints aching. Skin peeling. Spine so out of alignment I could feel the discs floating like sand dollars loosely connected by the thinnest of string.
I had wanted to eat healthier. Wanted to do yoga. Wanted to see a chiropractor.
So I did the opposite. My body talked. I resisted. She spoke louder.
The day came again when none of it could be pushed off or ignored, and even through the pain, I was thankful.
